Paulo C. Vicente, A.I.A
Paulo earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Roger Williams University where he received the school’s prestigious thesis award for the design of a mixed use development. Upon receiving his degree, he practiced in his native country of Portugal. He also studied language and arts at Portugal’s distinguished Universidade de Coimbra. Returning to the U.S., he practiced with the firm Austin Patterson Disston Architects for 6 years where he was a project architect and designer for the firm’s various residential and commercial projects. In 2002, he joined Vicente-Burin Architects as a full-time venture.
Paulo is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He is a registered architect in the states of Connecticut, New York, Michigan, and in the country of Portugal. In 2005, Paulo published 120 architectural drawings for The Language of Doors, a book he co-authored that identifies and discusses 350 years of entrances in domestic architecture.
Martina Burin, A.I.A
Martina earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. Upon receiving her degree, she interned with the firm of Ferris Architects in Westport, Connecticut where she worked on the firm’s various residential and commercial projects and gained valuable insight on the running of an architectural practice. She then moved on to work at the firm Austin Patterson Disston Architects in Southport, CT where she was a project architect and designer.
In 1999, she followed her vision and founded Vicente-Burin Architects. Her skills as a designer, communicator and organizer have made her the instrumental leader in the firm’s growth. Martina is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. She is a registered architect in the states of Connecticut and Michigan.
